Youth Mentorship Program

National Mentorship Month - Reverse Job Fair and 6-Week Program Update

Ozaukee County, WI - As January marks National Mentorship Month, an annual campaign dedicated to highlighting the profound impact of mentoring, we are thrilled to share exciting updates regarding our efforts at Job Service and our Workforce Partners. Our focus extends beyond simply connecting with youth; we are actively implementing a program directly within schools to equip young individuals with essential workplace skills. Last week, on January 25th, we launched a 6-week program designed to guide students in preparing for their future careers.

Below is an overview of the program:

Week 1: Self-Discovery

Week 2: Resume Creation or Update

Week 3: Interview Practice

Week 4: Write Your Verbal Pitch

Week 5: Presentation Prep

Week 6: Reverse Job Fair Event

Our current session at Ozaukee Community High School has enrolled 12 morning and 5 afternoon students. We extend our gratitude to the organizers, including Job Service Staff Sandy Murphy and school contacts Nikki Sellin and Jada Carter. A special thank you to our partners, DVR, Apprenticeship, Forward Careers, and participating employers/HR representatives. Additionally, we are planning another Reverse Job Fair coupled with the 6-week program at Waukesha East in mid to late April. If you wish to learn more or get involved, please reach out to Sandy Murphy at sandra.murphy@dwd.wisconsin.gov.

Thank you for your dedication to making a positive impact on the future workforce.
